Vertigo, Dizziness and the Nintendo 3DS - How It Could Give You Problems

Maybe you have bought the Nintendo 3DS only to experience vertigo or dizziness on using it? You might not be alone. Dizziness and vertigo just after looking at the Nintendo 3DS is a recognized trouble amongst console makers and health care professionals that deal with vertigo just like myself. How can you tell if you're going to experience problems with the Nintendo 3DS and what can you do about this?

All this comes from an issue known as visual mismatch. Your balance utilizes feedback from your eyes (vision), ears, and your body (proprioception). As long as you are receiving data from as a minimum two of these three you feel balanced. However there's a lot of people who have overt or disguised problems with the ears or proprioception that leaves one of the three missing. This will make them constantly dependent upon the visual system and the other remaining system.

Most people can deal okay with two systems, but when they're forced to count on one system many people encounter problems. This is what occurs with the Nintendo 3DS. Generating the 3D image requires a distortion of the way the human brain ordinarily puts together a picture. People who have normal balance systems can deal with this, however if you happen to be depending on the visual system to keep you balanced, you will be much more likely to have troubles.

How are you able to know if you may suffer from vertigo or dizziness on viewing the Nintendo 3DS? Start by asking yourself these questions:

1. Do you have an existing stability problem?
2. Have you suffered with vertigo or dizziness before?
3. Do you experience dizziness or disorientation with fast moving scenes on Television or at the cinema?
4. Do you experience dizziness or disorientation in scenarios with a lot of motion close to you like shopping malls/centres or supermarkets?
5. Do you experience dizziness or disorientation with heights or in circumstances where the point you are focusing on is far away?

I would suggest that the more of these you responded to yes to, the more likely you are to be affected by vertigo and dizziness with the Nintendo 3DS. It doesn't definitely suggest you will, however it could be worth trying it out at a buddy's place first before heading to the store and handing over your dollars.
